Charley’s new custom
Charley Long Way Round' Boorman
Charley Long Way Round' Boorman

A RIDER synonymous with a well known European make of motorcycle, also seen riding one on TV, has opted for something diametrically opposed (that certainly applies to the cylinder configuration) as his personal bike.

Charley Long Way Round' Boorman has teamed up with leading custom builders Hawg Haven to produce a limited edition custom bike which is now available for purchase.

The project came about after a chance meeting at the 2006 NEC motorcycle show when Charley presented Hawg Haven with the Best in Show award.

He then commissioned the multi-award winning custom bike builders to create his own dream ride - a custom based on the late Forties Bobbers that for many started the whole custom ethos.

This has been expanded to a limited run of ten "Old Skool" specials reflecting the iconic stripped-down style of the Bobber - fat wheels, Springer front end and an Ultima soft-tail frame. Power is provided by a 1,524cc Knuckle-head style power unit (producing 105lb/ft of torque) sourced from Mid-West Motor Supply in Missouri.

Many of the cycle parts are hand fabricated by Hawg Haven, including the stretched Knuckle-head tank, cut-down style rear mudguard, seat and many other bespoke parts. The handmade nature of the exclusive machines means that customers will be able to have personal touches added to make each bike unique.

Only 11 bikes will be built, with number one going to Charley Boorman as his everyday ride.

For riders interested in owning an old-school style bike with a touch of fame, contact Hawg Haven on 01603 412222 or take a look at hawghaven.co.uk, but be quick because take-up is brisk.
