Review: CBeebies at the Theatre

WITH such a popular cast of characters to choose from, CBeebies at the Theatre, always looked set to be a sure-fire hit.

And the packed audience at The Mayflower in Southamp-ton was not disappointed by the recycling-themed show.

Keeping hundreds of under- fives transfixed for around 90 minutes is no mean feat but CBeebies made it look easy.

With PC Plum leading the proceedings, the audience squealed with delight when their favourite characters made an appearance.

Postman Pat, Jess the Cat, Tommy Zoom, the Koala Brothers, and Tamba from Tikkabilla all raised huge cheers, while the evil Polluto attracted the obligatory pantomime style boos.

With plenty of well-known songs to sing along to and lots of actions to copy, it was fun from start to finish.

My 15-month-old niece showed her appreciation with some frantic arm waving and I knew it had the ultimate seal of approval when my three-year-old niece's parting words to me were: "Can we watch it again?"

CBeebies at the Theatre runs until Thursday at The Mayflower.
