AN INVESTIGATION is under way after a man was found dead at a bus station.
The body was discovered around 11.30pm last night at Gosport Bus Station.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene following the arrival of paramedics who were unable to do anything to help him.
The area was cordoned off by police until around 5am this morning.

Stentch? Do you mean stench? Personnally I like the smell of fish. What has that got to do with the story, I am obviously missing something.

HTH[/quote] OK. Still have a double negative in there. Keep trying.

Why is mac filtering not viable? Well, aside from the fact that mac addresses can quite easily be spoofed at source, they're susceptible to the same tricks as IP addresses. It's not hard to use an anonymous proxy, in another country (there are millions of 'em) so the IP logs become worthless in that respect. For example, if you were to trace my IP address when I'm at home, you'd probably find out that I was posting from somewhere halfway around the world. I'm not, but that's what the logs would tell you. The logs will show the IP address and the MAC address of where the request last came from, which is not necessarily where it originated. Similarly, I'm at work at the moment, so the IP and MAC address being logged is that of our HTTP proxy, [bold]not[/bold] my machine. It's a pain, really.
The only thing that can be done is, force people to sign up for an account, and pay for it by credit/debit. That would limit how many accounts they could have, and when they're all blocked, they have to go open a new bank account to get another one. Who's going to bother? But then, not too many people will want to put their card details into a website just to voice an opinion on some local news, and the cost of setting up the system is prohibitive for a local newspaper. It ain't gonna happen. We just have to live with trolls

Fundamental misunderstanding of Internetworking, I think, Watchman. There isn't a direct connection between your PC and the website you're browsing. You can't look at IP logs, or even examine incoming raw packets, and establish where they're coming from. The best you can do is see where the last proxy the request went through was, approach the owner and ask for the incoming logs. They're not obliged to comply, and in the case of anonymous proxies, they'll generally be in countries where the UK has no jurisdiction, run by organisations that won't give a hoot about your problem and will stand in your way just for the fun of it. That's what they're there for: to keep you anonymous on the Internet

Of course I'm a nerd, Denzil! Was that supposed to be an insult? I get paid a relative fortune for doing a job I both find pretty easy [bold]and[/bold] actually enjoy. I work pretty much whatever hours I feel like, nobody complains if I take an afternoon off to go to the pub now and again. Then I go home, and I'm just like everyone else, a normal guy, with a normal life, only my income is considerably higher than the national average, and I don't dread going back to work again. If I get bored with a job, or want more money, or get made redundant (all of whi
