Saints suffer cup defeat
A YOUNG Saints reserves side suffered a 4-2 Combination Cup defeat to Bristol City at Staplewood tonight.
Saints took the lead after just two minutes through Jake Thomson but were pegged back four minutes before the break when Scott Murray levelled for the visitors.
To make matters worse for Saints the one experienced player in the side, Jason Euell, was taken off moments later after dislocating his shoulder after landing awkwardly following a challenge with City's Gavin Williams.
David Noble and Steve Brooker then put City 3-1 up with goals inside the first twenty minutes of the second half.
Bradley Wright-Phillips pulled one back for Saints with eight minutes to go to give the home side a glimmer of hope.
But Ivan Sproule sealed the win for The Robins with a clinical finish moments from full-time.

First team, played 4 games, lost 3
Reserves, played 2, lost 2
Academy, played 2, lost 2
Not a good start for our "revolutionary coaching structure" is it?

Thoroughly enjoyed the game last night. Good to see the youngsters go out and play some great football. City were packed full of first team players (Noble, Trundle, Sproule etc)and at times we took them apart. Dyer was outstanding as was Jake Thomson. Mills looks cool as a cucumber at left back and Ollie Lancashire waded in with some crunching tackles. With a little bit of luck (and on any other night)young Paterson would have got a hat-trick. Enjoyable football, the result was more than flattering for City, these kids have a great future - STOP SLAGGING THEM OFF with your inane, unacceptable posts. Quick Point - have you even been to any of the games that we have played?
