Reward offered to find Georgina’s murderer
Georgina Edmonds
Georgina Edmonds

A £6,000 reward is being offered to find the person who bludgeoned Hampshire grandmother Georgina Edmonds, pictured, to death.

The cash has been put forward by the 77-year-old's son Harry together with Hampshire police and Crimestoppers in a bid to identify whoever is responsible.

The reward comes as the investigation enters its tenth week and the murderer is still at large.

Mrs Edmonds' son Harry has offered £3,000 for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of whoever battered his frail mum over the head.

It was shortly before 6pm on Friday, January 11, that he, together with a family friend, made the gruesome discovery of her body.

Last week the Echo revealed how the mother-of-two had been tortured by her killer who used a knife to repeatedly stab her around the top of her body.

Detectives believe the killer stabbed her, possibly with a paring knife used in kitchens, to try and get her to reveal her PIN for her cashcard which he stole.

Hampshire police have also offered a further £2,000 towards the total sum as the major inquiry moves into its third month.

The remaining £1,000 has been offered by Crimestoppers and is the standard offer in any unsolved murder investigation.

Harry Edmonds, who lives on the same land at Kingfisher Lodge in Kiln Lane, Brambridge, said: "I am offering this reward to anyone who can provide the police with information that leads to the conviction of the person or people responsible for my mother's death."

Come forward Detective Chief Inspector Paul Barton said: "We are hoping that this will encourage people to come forward with information which will lead us to the person who committed this horrendous crime.

"We continue to be pleased with the response from the community and would like to thank them for their assistance."

Det Chief Insp Barton said he believes the killer will have confessed to a friend or relative about all or at least part of the crime.

He added: "We hope that this reward will encourage them to come forward and do the right thing by giving their information to us."

Anyone with any information about this murder should contact the Operation Columbian investigation team at Hulse Road on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestop-pers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Alternatively information can be sent to Freepost, Operation Columbian or emailed to operation.columbian@hampshire.pnn.police.uk.

Shocking - I can't imagine how that must have felt. I truly hope the disgusting soul who committed this crime is found and sentenced to the most severe of punishments allowed. Why does this sort of thing happen in this world?!

A derisory £6000.00 is hardly going to persuade anyone to come forward

Surely some national newspaper or something could cough up. Wasn't there a £50000+ reward for Shannon Matthews - I know its a different crime but in my opinion, just as horrific
