Ford stopped making the Transit in Genk about 2003 when the production was switched from Ford AG in Belgium to Otosan in Kocaeli. Otosan is NOT Ford owned so Ford buys the completed vans from them. Genk stil makes some panels for the Transit, like the diesel engines come from Dagenham (the petrol ones come from Mexico) and the Transmissions come from Liverpool

Further clarification - Kocaeli Plant in Turkey ONLY make the Transit, but they make the "normal" Transit AND the Transit Connect.
Southampton only make the "normal" Transit.
The Genk plant in Belgium make the Mondeo, Galaxy and (I believe) the S-Max.

Rob should be noted - the public have to be aware of the intricasies of the so called 'free market' and as the comic phrase use to say 'not a lot of people know that'. It is no joke tho' there are a lot of hurt and financially broke staff that will be affected in this gut wrenching business transactions.
Who will be their Sponsor - Governments limp hand of support - I think not - they have been sold out to a higher bidder.
