This show is worth a flutter
BUTTERFLIES are the inspiration for a free art show at
Winchester Discovery Centre.
Butterfly Summer features work by local artists
inspired by the insects and their environment, particularly
the areas of chalk downs that form much of the landscape
around Winchester.
The work in the City Space gallery
will include watercolours, oils, prints
and jewellery. The show has been
organised by Winchester City
Council's museums service in partnership
with the Hampshire branch
of UK Butterfly Conservation.
Butterfly Summer runs until Sunday,
August 31. Opening times: Monday -
Friday 10pm-6pm, Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 11am-4pm.
Admission is free. There will be activities for children,
including butterfly puzzles, games and quizzes.
A series of butterfly talks takes place each Saturday at 2pm
until August 23. And you can take the opportunity to see the
real thing by joining a guided walk of Magdalene Hill Down
reserve near Winchester.
