Southampton Cycling Campaign is organising various events around the city as part of National Bike Week. All events are suitable for beginner and nervous cyclists and the route is cycled at the pace of the slowest cyclist, so you won't get left behind.
Saturday, June 14: 11am at the Bargate. A cycle calvacade will be involved in a mass cycle around Southampton city centre followed by a picnic in one of the central parks. Come in bright clothes or fancy dress and join in the fun.
Tuesday, June 17: 6.30pm at The Cowherds, Southampton Common. Southampton Cycling Campaign member Eric Reed will lead a ride around Lordswood and Chilworth, returning to The Cowherds for refreshments at 9pm.
Bike2Work Day. Workers at Southampton City Council and the NHS primary care trust are being encouraged get on their bikes and cycle to work.
Wednesday, June 18: 6.15pm at the Bargate. By popular demand, a repeat of last year's ride to Hamble. Almost all off-road on cycle lanes and paths, no busy roads. Lovely route along Weston Shore and through the country park, stopping for an hour in Hamble for refreshments, returning to Southampton by 10pm.
Thursday, June 19: Cycle training sessions at various times on Southampton Common aimed at nervous cyclists and children (with an adult). Contact Dilys at Cyclewise (023 8077 7472) for more information.

Friday, June 20: Go Dutch - an evening presentation on cycling in Holland followed by discussion and Dutch cakes. Contact Lindsi on 023 8033 2926
Saturday, June 21: 4pm at The Cowherds, Southampton Common. Ride for young children and their families - two laps of the common followed by a picnic. If Saturday is very wet, this event will take place at 4pm on Sunday instead.

The Solent Coasts Cycling Challenge. More than 250 riders will cycle 66 miles interspersed by six ferry journeys.

October 5: The Deloittes and Sailors Society Cycle 2008 event will be a leisure ride for families with routes of different lengths. The event will start in Mayflower Park where they will be a village of cycling information.
