TV star provides the chance to gunge four Hampshire celebs
IT'S slimy, cold and wet and will
make it a day four Hampshire
celebrities will not forget in a
hurry.
But in the name of fundraising the wellknown
faces have agreed to be covered from
head to toe in slime to try to raise more than
£300,000 for charity.
Luckily for Daily Echo readers you have the
choice as to who gets covered in the slimy
concoction at the Rose Road
Association's annual fun day.
Dave Benson Phillips explains exactly what to expect as the celebs beg not to be gunged - watch the video here
Volunteering for the gunge shower
at the charity's annual event are
Saints legends Francis Benali and
Jason Dodd, BBC South Today sports
presenter Roger Johnson and ex
Hampshire cricketer and BBC Radio
cricket commentator Kevan James.
The unlucky one will be covered in
slime by children's TV presenter Dave
Benson Phillips.
But to give the nervous lads a taste of
what's to come Rose Road fundraisers
Gary Thomasson and Emma Deabill
agreed to test out the gunge tank.
Gary,
fundraising
manager at
Rose Road,
s p e a k i n g
after his
gung e i n g ,
said: "It was
horrible and
slimy and got
all over my
new flip-flops!
"We have
managed to get these celebrities to give
up their free time so we hope the public
will come along and help support us on
the day. It will be fantastic fun and I'm
looking forward to seeing which celebrity
takes the gunge plunge."
All money raised at the event will go
towards the Change My life Appeal
which aims to raise £2,000 for each of
the 150 young people with profound and
multiple disabilities who attend Rose Road.
The day will have stalls, games, entertainment,
face painting, refreshments and a raffle
to win prizes including a flat screen TV and
DVD player.
The event will be held at the Bradbury
Centre from 1pm to 4pm on June 21.
Anyone wishing to make a donation should
contact the charity at The Rose Road
Association, Bradbury Centre, 300 Aldermoor
Road, Southampton, or call 023 8072 1234.

Who? Probably relates to their 'celebrity' status.....
Would be more truthful to describe them as 3 ex-local Sportsmen and a Journalist....
Agree about Sally Taylor though, is it just me or is she the falsest, most condecending individual on the box??

These people are doing their bit for local disabled kids. They are good sports and supporters of Rose Road. Don't knock them unless you are prepared to step up and get gunged for charity!!
