RACE for Life in Southampton is the largest single event of its kind in the country.

On Sunday July 13, thousands of women will gather to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

It will be a day of high emotion - loved ones remembered and survivors celebrated coming through the disease. There will be great sadness at the loss of so many and immense joy at what can be achieved when people unite for a common cause.

Beales team enjoy the day

BRENDA Middlebrook, 64, refused to let a little thing like a knee operation get in the way of her Race for Life.

She teamed up with friends and colleagues from Beales department store in Winchester's Brook Centre to complete the charity fun run.

All the Beales ladies had their own special reasons for taking part. Among them was Gemma Percival, 27, who was running for her grandad, her auntie and her friend Sandy who is recovering from cancer.
