Sherborne House School celebrates 75 years
FORMER pupils turned out to pay tribute to a Hampshire school as it celebrated its 75th anniversary.
More than 120 alumni of Sherborne House in Chandler's Ford joined well-wishers at the prep school's open day, and saw one of its founders restore a long-held tradition.
Youngsters at the school are split into three houses - Oaks, Pines and Beeches - and until a few years ago there was one of each of the trees in the grounds.
While the English oak and Scots pine have survived, the beech was removed so Dorothy Wise planted a new one to complete the trio once again.
Sherborne House's director of music Shelagh Lee, herself a former pupil, said it had been fantastic to see so many alumni return to the school, including one who is now a Devon-based MP and another who came from America specially.
She added: "There were some wonderful moments, especially watching two gentlemen in their 70s who had not seen each other since they were 11 sitting and chuckling to each other."
