Civic site sell-off
WINCHESTER City Council is set for a large cash windfall with the impending sale of its former planning offices.
The council is negotiating to sell Avalon House in Chesil Street for a so-far undisclosed amount.
A council spokeswoman said: "Negotiations are continuing. If the people who put the offer in are successful then their intention is to refurbish and then lease the offices."
Avalon House was built in the 1980s but became redundant after a council reorganisation of office requirements.
The council would retain part of the car park at the back of the site.
