Bus link is a step nearer
A SCHEME to create a dedicated bus link between two Hampshire towns has moved a step closer to approval.
The £20m first phase of the Bus Rapid Transit for South East Hampshire was shortlisted in the Government's Community Infrastructure Funding application.
It would provide a bus transit route between Gosport and Fareham enabling buses to bypass queues on the A32.
The Bus Rapid Transit was put forward after a plan for a tram route linking Fareham and Gosport with Portsmouth via a tunnel was abandoned in 2006.
Transport for South Hampshire will now hold consultations with the local community on the detail of the proposal before finalising its application to the Government for funding approval in October.
