College deemed outstanding by inspectors

AFTER visiting Brockenhurst College in the New Forest Ofsted inspecters issued their verdict: Outstanding!

They gave the college the highest possible grade for all of its areas including its provision, standards, leadership and management.

Inspectors judged the overall effectiveness of the college to be outstanding with students enjoying very high success rates.

Many students were found to achieve beyond their expectations, producing very good work and generally enjoying college life.

Teaching and learning were also described as outstanding at the college that has 12,782 full and part-time students.

College principal Di Roberts said: "This outstanding Ofsted report is tremendous news for students, their parents and for local employers."

She added: "It is a tribute to a brilliant team of dedicated staff and to the achievements of all our learners - I congratulate and thank them all for their unparalleled commitment and hard work."

The college also received an outstanding Ofsted report during its last inspection in 2004.

In the same year it was designated as a beacon college meaning that it could set an example to other colleges and in April 2006 achieved Action for Business College accreditation.

Brockenhurst College offers a range of qualifications including AS, A level, Btec, NVQ, GCSE and OSN and the international baccalaureate.
