New Forest Show attracts 90,000 people
THE weather remained on its best behaviour last week when visitors crammed into the New Park show ground for the New Forest Show.
About 90,000 walked through the gates during the three-day event, and organisers said they were delighted with the its success.
New Forest Show spokeswoman, Jackie Neylon, said: "It's been a really successful show. For the first time we have had nothing but compliments.
"The new access road made it really easy for everyone coming in and going out, and the weather was very good.
"We've had more visitors than ever from London. All in all, everyone had a fantastic time."
Visitors to the 40-acre showground were treated to traditional country pursuits, including watching a variety of craftsmen like woodturners, while others perused the vintage tractors and historical tools on display.
Steam engines and a vast display of sleek classic cars were there too, while the countryside arena proved extremely popular as ever.
From ferret and terrier racing to fishing, falconry and gun dog displays, the arena was brimming with rural sporting pursuits.
And with more than 600 stall holders showcasing their goods, visitors were soon laden with bags and goodies to take home as a memento of their visit.
