Air kissing should just be for the Luvvies!

COULD someone please explain to me, the reasoning behind air kissing?

The worst offenders are The Showbiz fraternity, but I've noticed more and more of the public are doing it too. If I don't want to kiss someone I just say hello or shake their hands NOT look as if I'm going to kiss a cheek then kiss the air!

I think it looks as if someone is thinking "I don't really want to kiss you, but I better look as if I am!'' What do other readers think of this "trend''? We could start a "Ban Air Kissing Campain'' because I for one, find it offensive!
