[bold]Nathan Dyer[/bold] , he is so full of skill, pace, flair, honesty, tracks back to help his defenders, skins the opposition, can pick out a 50 yard pass to open up a defence - and he is a proven match winner.

Couldn't believe it going on Saints Fc.com and seeing that they have had awards! Taking into account the season we've had would have been so much more appropriate to have it after the season. None of the players have provern a thing yet! We've got 2 games left that's what we should be concentrating on, not dressing up and accepting awards, suprised we can even afford the making of the awards but atleast we're seeing where our ticket money on. Makes me sick.
Last week at the game i came home so gutted, i just hope we stay up. True red & white forever.

I really dont think that anyone playing 23 games deserves "player of the season". Dont get me wrong Andrew Davies is class but he hasnt played for a season.
Question is if you had to predict who the fans would vote "player of the season" [italic][bold]at the beginning of the season[/bold][/italic] would the top three candidates be
Saga
Viafara
Ostlund

Nobody deserves the award, well maybe the loyal 20,000 odd fans that go each week.
Looking at the awards on the official site I see Licka got most improved player after what a maximum of 10 performances, none match winning, and Davies player of the season after 23 performances and our only great performer. To be honest they probably did an award for every player, though I have not read the details as I cant be bothered.
If anybody gets this award I will be very suprised, guess they have to give it someone. Le Tissier???

silly newspaper , how lowe can you get by asking such a stupid question[/quote] Erm, it's a fairly standard thing across the footballing world, player of the season.
Or are you just quite new to the world of football?

I think Andrew Davies has shown the most effort this season, however, is it right to be dishing out awards for, possibly the worst season of all time, in terms of effort & commitment...? if so, then an award should go to the Fans who turn out in all weathers, spend a fortune on parking, shirts, beer, food etc..... in exchange for utter, unadulterated dross.... I get more excited & satisfied, watching my 10 year old son's Tyro League games, on a Sunday morning, those Boys get a quid a goal if they're lucky & give 200% effort & have just won their league, with a game left to play...

For a minute I thought there were two of him.

The Player of the Year was awarded properly on Tuesday night and that was young Matt Paterson winning the Academy Player of the Year. An outstanding talent who should be splashed all over the Echo pages - not the inept first team.

Is this some Pompey fans idea of a p*ss take!!
We are in the bottom 3, heading rapidly towards games against the likes of MK Dons & Hereford!
We have NO player of the year!
NOBODY WHO HAS WORN THE RED & WHITE THIS SEASON DESERVES ANY CREDIT!
THE WHOLE CLUB IS A DISGRACE!

I hope we can keep him if the inevitable happens - League 1. I'm gutted. Sheffield Wednesday won today making our chances of survial slim with the games left - James Beattie could relegate us.
