Motorist killed after colliding with tree
A MOTORIST was killed early today when his car careered off the road and smashed into a tree.
A silver-coloured Mercedes was travelling north on the A338 shortly after midnight when the accident happened at Blashford, near Ringwood.
The 43-year-old victim, who lived in the Fordingbridge area, is thought to have been killed instantly.
Police closed the road for seven hours while they investigated the cause of the tragedy and arranged for the wreckage of the car to be removed.
A police spokesman said the victim was the only occupant of the Mercedes. She added that no other vehicle was involved.
Witnesses should ring the Roads Policing Unit at Totton police station on 0845 045 4545.

sadly another tragic loss,please have a bit more respect someone has died sure you would not be writing comments like this if it was a relitive of yours,my thoghts are with the family god bless you.

When are the police & local authority going to see sense & install speed cameras along the A338 (which should be moved at intervals to ensure that motorists have to constantly obey the limits or risk points & a fine). When I moved to the area & complained about the speeds vehicles were doing, I was told it would take a fatality before cameras would even be considered - well now we have another one. Wherever the blame for each of the crashes along this road lies steps must be taken now. To all of those reading this article & thinking they know where the fault lies - check your speedo reading next time you travel this way.

Speed is often a contributory factor.
Most of us DO 'speed' but usually within reasonable parameters and nothing to do with 'how you stop'
Driving on motorways is far removed from winding country roads and whatever other factors are involved.
Every time these tragic stories pop up, we have the usual pros and cons plus stupid inane comments.
Everybody grieves even if we dont know the poor lads and family, friends etc.
You cant label all young drivers as 'boy racers' and if they have a decent car then so what?
On the other hand - we all all see crazy nutters on the road and rarely feel sorry if they should happen to suffer the consequences. Trouble is - pity the poor passengers or innocent pedestrians and other cars who might be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

well i was a very good friend of the man that had the accident i cant believe the comments on here evryone that knew him is very upset and hurting with pain inside all you can think about is writing how his unfortunate accident will make you feel better. and what makes any off you think he was speeding anything could have happened and you asume things i wish you could be more thoughtfull and lest selfish [bold]bold[/bold]

Nobody 'feels better' so I dont really understand this response. Once again - this forum is hardly the best place to come to if any personal involvement is sadly linked.

This is such a huge tragedy and he will be greatly missed. It makes me sick how people presume the worst and why they cannot just send their respects. You would have all been honored to know him... R.I.P my love

No matter what, this is a tragic waste of life. This guy was one in a million and a friend to so many. His death is such a loss, and unless you knew him, you have no idea what this means to all his friends. This is going to leave a big hole in so many peoples lives. It is a tragedy. May you carry on doing what you do best Paul, wherever you may be...**** You will be missed.
