Saints star Wright-Phillips cleared of burglary

SAINTS footballer Bradley Wright-Phillips has been acquitted of a charge of burglary following a theft from a Hampshire nightclub.

The striker this afternoon walked free from Portsmouth Magistrates Court after district judge Anne Arnold ruled there is not enough evidence against him.

It was alleged that Wright-Phillips had been involved in the theft of £85, three mobile phones a driving licence and bank cards from the staff room of the Bar Bluu nightclub in Southsea in February.

Wright-Phillips, 23, of High Street, Southampton, admitted being there, but not having a role in the theft.

After watching CCTV footage from the night, Mrs Arnold acquitted Wright-Phillips on the grounds it could not be proved he was involved in or encouraged the burglary.

Last month, fellow Saints star Nathan Dyer admitted his part in the burglary. He was sentenced to 60 hours community service.
